Cluster Events

Each term the cluster heads get together to discuss matters of importance, innovation or provide some sharing opportunities.

In Summer 2006 we invited the Sheila Smith and West Cornwall Together for a presentation on the role of Local area groups and how the Zone might move forward post-2008.

In Autumn 2006, at St Day, we invited Penny Mathers from Government Office South West to share her vision for extended services and Children’s Centres. We also invited Alex Servier, DFES BIP manager, to share some of the good practice in the Behaviour and Attendance project (BIP) from his national experience. An outcome from that meeting was an opportunity to get early warning of the emerging Behaviour 4 Learning partnerships schools are currently developing. Another outcome was that we started travelling around some of the schools as venues and the head teachers gained some opportunities to visit other schools and settings. During that event colleagues also presented information on Nurture groups, a Maths collaborative project, got some feedback from the children and young people on the Summer Fashion show, and learnt more about the Learning Space environmental programmes.

In Spring 2006, at St Meriadoc Junior, we discussed extended services and the links with School Improvement in some depth. Ann Van Dyke, from Family Services talked about some of the new requirements for the Childcare element of family services and Sally Randall, talked about how she could provide up to date information on events and services in the Kerrier area. Kaye Pitcher, Head Teacher at Penponds, discussed how a seminar linking extended services and school improvement provided her with an opportunity to make sense of extended services. Head Teachers then looked at a mechanism for sharing some common goals and how extended services could contribute to school improvement. See the link below to the Extended Services page for further information on how we are moving on from accountability to school improvement for our extended services work. See the attached links for the further information, powerpoints and feedback from each of the Cluster Heads events.

CYPP Conference, 26th June,  for our young people to present their work about the impact of the Zone or other work.  Link to information and application form here.
