School Improvement

Supporting school improvement is our core business. This is being achieved in a number of ways with some specific work in schools, Learning Mentors, Inclusion provision, attendance initiatives, Nurture group provision in conjunction with the supporting arms of the strategic work -the CPR Learning Space and the SMART multi-agency working group. Check out the following elements of the CPR Success Zone to find out what is being achieved with our schools.

The Training Development Agency's  School Improvement Overview  document introduces the TDA's School Improvement Planning Framework which was commissioned by the department for Children, Schools and Families to help schools realise and substain the benefits of extended provisions through their planning process,    click here to browse this document.

Learning and Research Facilitator 2007 to 2009.

Background:
Schools in CPR have had additional funds to support behaviour and attendance, innovation and creativity and ICT. The current theme of supporting behaviour and attendance is easily embedded into other initiatives such as Learning to Learn and other roles within the CPR schools to support improved outcomes for children and young people. Small schools or schools with better results have, under the BIP programme, been given less funds to support collaborative work in the area. This project provides an opportunity for all schools in the CPR area to share in developing, collaborating and producing some work show casing some of the experiences and improvements you have made as a result of a facilitated, joint project.  Richard Jenkins and Becky Williams will facilitate the project which is expected to finish on the 19th June, 2008 with a presentation event of the participants choice.
Purpose  and outcomes of the project:

Check out the findings from our first meeting on the 21st May.

9.00 a.m.       27th June  2008          The CPR Learning Space - Presentation to Cluster Heads.

STOP PRESS

We have continued this role to support the internal learning and facilitation of impact recording for our schools.  Becky Williams will put out the schedule to March 2009 on here shortly.
Contact Gwen Gilmore, Richard Jenkins or Becky Williams for further details of this project.

We have now tracked the improvements made to the Zone over the last few years.  If you would like to check out the schools progress - a comparison against Cornwall and National Statistics please check here.

Exploding the exclusion myth

Pool Business and Enterprise College has challenged the assumption that exclusion works. Disruptive students are not sent home — instead they work in silence, in the school's Inclusion Unit, from 12pm to 5pm, earning the right to return to normal lessons.  A year on, the approach is more successful than ever, with standards still rising.
