Improving Attendance
CPR schools have done a lot of work to improve attendance. This has been achieved through a wide range of measures.

At St Day School the Head Teacher recently ascribed their recent improvements to their attendance to the work of the Learning Mentor. They have changed how they communicate with parents and provided opportunities to engage in the school in a different range of ways.

Attendance at Lead Behaviour Professional training and EWO training. At our last meeting Tracey McLennan provided a thorough overview of systems and approaches with which to improve attendance.

A key influence has been improving the school systems for reporting and recording their attendance, first day calling system and being clearer about the roles and responsibilities for each element of attendance. One parent recently indicated that they had seen a big increase in the attendance as a result of first day absence calling not just to the home but to the next phone numbers so that grandparents were being called. This has supported a little bit of a change in the responsibilities being more jointly owned by the school and the community.
