About Us
Where is the CPR Learning Space?
The CPR success Zone is an educational partnership of 28 Primary, Special and Secondary Schools in the Camborne, Pool and Redruth area of West Cornwall. In 2000, the then EAZ successfully bid for one of the 12 Classroom of the Future projects nationally, funded by the DfES. We exist to challenge peoples’ thinking about what learning and classrooms could be like in the future!
What is the CPR Learning Space like?
The Learning Space is a unique environmentally sustainable building with state of the art technology. The CPR Learning Space has 3 large learning spaces, called The Dome, The Pod and The X-change. In addition, there are 2 small seminar rooms. (Other rooms include a creative resources room, a ground source heating room, a water control room, a comms ICT centre, a kitchen, an office and toilets.)
What is the CPR Learning Space for?
The CPR Learning Space aims to provide a flexible venue capable of creating a wide range of opportunities for everyone in the CPR Success Zone.
Five priorities guide our provision:
-
Innovative learning and teaching through creativity
-
Gifted and talented collaborative opportunities
-
State of the art technology
-
Lifewide and lifelong learning across our community
-
Environmental responsibility
Classrooms of the Future
The Department for Education and Skills 'Classrooms of the Future' pilot aims to provide better environments for learning and teaching. Flexibility is key because education will be very different in a few years time. Buildings need to be stimulating as well as functional and quality is essential to raise standards. Classrooms of the Future and what we do in them should challenge everyone's thinking about what learning should be like
We would like to say 'thank you' to all our funding organisations:
The DfES are the main funding body for the CPR Learning Space
Cornwall County Council enabled their Architect's Department to be involved in designing the building
The CPR Success Zone pays for the staffing and running costs of the building, as well as funding all the learning programmes that are held in the CPR Learning Space. In January 2005, these costs will be met by the Excellence Cluster
The Neighbourhood Renewal Fund awarded us funds to provide additional facilities to enhance the community use of our building
'e-SWEB Energy' enabled us to install a 5kw photovoltaic system
The Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) have supported our work in developing remote control robotic vehicles
The Faulkes Telescope Project has nominated the CPR Learning Space as their South West Regional Centre
