Learning Space Programmes

What can you do at the Learning Space?

We work with learners of any ages – you are never too young or old! All experiences are adaptable for children, young people, adults and families. During our first year, organisations asked us for programmes on themes, issues or topics that were relevant to them and we collaboratively designed and ran programmes with them, which we were then able to offer to all our other partner organisations. The following year, we focussed on helping adults from a range of settings to plan and deliver their own events and programmes at the Learning Space, as well as in their own setting. Now you can come and do a centre-led programme, lead your own programmes or just use us a venue for your event!

A world of different environments (for example…)

Wild Space : 2 environments to explore - the rainforest and polar zones
World War II : 3 zones to experience – the home front, war effort and command post for D-Day
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) : Work out ‘who dunnit’ by investigating 5 relevant places - the scene of crime, the forensic lab, the casino (the deceased’s place of work), the deceased’s home and a police interview room. (We run a corporate team building version of this for Businesses!)

Recreating any historical era is possible here – experience life in Viking and Roman times!

Flexible, open spaces in which to get creative…creativity is the key to innovation and enterprise…

Renewable energy : Tour ours and the challenge yourself to design and build your own environmentally sustainable building.

Animation workshops : Create your own animations on a theme of your choice, write scripts, make characters, sets and then film with webcams or digiblues!

Emotional Learning : Develop your emotions through a range of mediums – ICT, music, & art.

French Village and Spanish Siesta both develop language skills – build a French village or Spanish artefacts, research areas of the world where these languages are spoken and create your own digital dictionaries with your own voice, sound effects, animated drawings and writing.

If you’d like to use the Learning Space, it’s easy, just contact Bethia McKinley to arrange dates using the contact details. Please aim to book early, as our diary fills up very quickly and often several months in advance!
