Sense of Place
Sense of Place is a project launched and funded by Cornwall Local Authority. It delivers the curriculum in Cornish schools with distinctiveness and diversity. The project is driven by teachers who wish to meet the educational needs of pupils living in Cornwall in an exciting and innovative.
Sandie Hawkey was approached by Sense of Place, to write a unit to link in with the Kernow Woodland Learning project.
The unit concentrates on encouraging children to investigate the local environment, exploring the different natural objects that can be found outside in any setting in Cornwall.
The activities can be planned for and prepared in the grounds of the setting or take place on a visit to a natural environment such as parkland, natural wasteland, the grounds of school or on specific visits to wooded areas.
