Advance Planner

Does the use of a prior activated learning strategy enhance pupils’ resilience and improve teaching and learning in mathematics? Michelle Eathorne, Treviglas Community College


The study aimed to show whether the introduction of the advance planner can impact on the resilience of the student and also to propose why this might be the case. The results showed that the advance planner has had an impact on the internal and external factors which motivate students. Furthermore, detailed analysis of the 2006 SATs results, in comparison to the 2005 SATs results, showed a marked increase in the number of higher levels attained by the group, as compared to a control group from the previous year.
