Kinesthetic & Physical Approaches
Developing motivation and attitude to learning through kinaesthetic and physical approaches to the school day- Katherine Hamley, Alverton CP School.
The whole school took part in a kinaesthetic approach to learning- the Wake and Shake programme being developed from Year 6 downwards and a focus on the Healthy Schools project. The 3 most important findings:

An early morning aerobic type activity can encourage the children to have a greater readiness for learning;

Doing the Wake and Shake programme, the children become more confident and resilient in their work and general school life- happier to tackle any task set to them;

Activities such as Wake and Shake and Brain Gym® not only enthuse the staff but also ensure that pupils and staff alike are equipped with the skills to be more resourceful in their thinking and learning.
