Impact on Pupil Achievement
Investigating how L2L can impact on the Key Stage 2/3 transfer- John Welham, Camborne Science and Community College
The project focuses on how L2L approaches in primary schools might affect student performance at secondary level. The main finding went against what was expected: Success of students from smaller feeder primary schools continued to be better than those from larger primary schools, even those with an explicit L2L ethos. This led to a school-wide rethink of the way students are inducted into the school, with all Year 7 students taken off the National Curriculum for the first half term and taking part in an induction course which limits the number of teachers they meet and uses challenge to stimulate their thinking about school.
