Reflecting Through a Network
Will involving pupils reflecting on learning through the use of E-learning logs increase motivation and resilience? Liz Martin and Pippa Pender, Lanner Primary School
The research aimed to understand whether and, if so, how L2L approaches will:
-
Increase reflection and resilience
-
Improve learning performance
-
Encourage different ways to evaluate learning
-
Use learned optimism and self-efficacy.
The research involved 30 Year 6 children- who were encouraged to keep E-learning logs through the academic year 2005/2006.
The key findings were:
-
Enabling students to have quality reflection time is self motivating
-
Reflection increases student independence and encourages a more explicit understanding about their learning
-
Use of PowerPoint to create E-learning logs supported the children to be more independent and creative in the way that they reflected on their learning.
