We are a small village school (70 children) with a friendly, family-orientated atmosphere which enables the children and staff to enjoy the adventure of learning. In this environment we provide the opportunity for everyone in the school community to reach their potential.
Our school is an ‘open’ one, which aims to work in a partnership to help children develop lively and enquiring minds with a love of learning. This partnership seeks to involve parents in the life of the school in order to support and the children as they learn to work hard and succeed at tasks, both independently and with other people. In this way, our children develop a sense of self-respect and self-confidence as well as an awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs of others.
Our school is an exciting place for children and adults. We believe that the school day should be fun, active and that our children should develop an understanding of how they learn combined with a love of learning. We are a school that is constantly ‘raising the stakes’ in terms of learning. Children are taught in mixed aged groups. Within the mixed aged groups the older children support the younger children and the younger children spur on the older children to achieve higher goals. The mix of age groups is flexible depending on the task or subject.
